Privacy Policy
SoloMon is a Bluetooth monitor for JK BMS battery systems. It has no user accounts, and it does not ask for your name, your email address, or your location. The battery readings you came here for never leave your phone.
The short version
- Your battery data stays on your device. Cell voltages, temperatures, and state of charge are read over Bluetooth and are never uploaded.
- We collect one anonymous installation record — app version and device model — so we know which devices to support and when to offer updates.
- That record is tied to a random ID we generate, not to you and not to any hardware or advertising identifier.
- There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporting, no advertising, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
1. Who we are
SoloMon ("we", "us") develops and publishes the SoloMon Android application. For anything in this policy — including requests to access or delete your data — contact us at catorsi.albert14@gmail.com.
We act as the personal information controller for the limited data described below, under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
2. What we collect
When you first install and open the app, it registers a single anonymous installation record with our server. This happens once per installation. It contains exactly the following:
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
installationId | A random identifier (UUID v4) generated on your device at first launch. It is not derived from any hardware, account, or advertising ID, and it cannot be traced back to you. |
platform | The operating system family — "android". |
appVersion, buildNumber | Which version of SoloMon is installed. |
releaseChannel | Whether this is a production or debug build. |
androidVersion | Your Android OS version. |
deviceManufacturer, deviceModel | Your phone's make and model, so we can reproduce and fix device-specific Bluetooth problems. |
locale, timezone | Your language setting and time zone. |
Separately, if you connect to a battery management system, the app may report the BMS model name it detected, together with the same random installation ID. This tells us which JK BMS hardware families are actually in use so we can prioritise protocol support. It does not include any readings from your battery.
Our server also records the date and time the installation was registered.
3. What we do not collect
To be explicit, the app does not collect any of the following:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any account — SoloMon has no sign-in.
- Your location. See section 5; the app requests a location permission but never reads your position.
- Your contacts, photos, files, messages, or calendar.
- Any advertising identifier. There is no advertising in SoloMon.
- Analytics or behavioural data. There is no analytics or crash-reporting SDK in the app — no Firebase Analytics, no Crashlytics, no third-party tracker.
- Your battery's readings. These stay on your phone.
4. Your battery data stays on your phone
Everything SoloMon shows you about your battery — individual cell voltages, pack voltage, current, temperatures, state of charge, alarms, and configuration — is read directly from your BMS over Bluetooth Low Energy and held on your device. In this version of the app, none of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else.
If you have saved credentials for a BMS, they are stored in your device's encrypted secure storage and are never sent off the device.
5. Permissions, and why each one exists
| Permission | Why the app needs it |
|---|---|
| Bluetooth | To find your BMS, connect to it, and read live data. This is the app's core function. |
| Location | Required by Android itself. Android treats the ability to scan for nearby Bluetooth devices as location-sensitive, so it will not let any app scan without this permission. SoloMon uses it only to make Bluetooth scanning possible. The app contains no location code and never requests, reads, stores, or transmits your position. |
| Internet | To check for app updates and to send the one-time anonymous installation record described in section 2. |
| Install packages | To install an app update that you have explicitly chosen to download and install from within the app. |
| Storage | Only to save a donation QR code image to your gallery, if you choose to. The app does not read your existing photos or files. |
6. Who else is involved
Google Firebase
The installation record and the update service run on Google Firebase (Cloud Functions
and Cloud Firestore), hosted in the asia-east1 region. Google processes this
data on our behalf as our service provider. As with any internet request, Google's
infrastructure necessarily sees the originating IP address in order to route it; we do
not store IP addresses in our own records.
PayPal and GCash
SoloMon includes an entirely optional way to support the project. Choosing PayPal opens PayPal's website in your browser, and any details you enter there are handled by PayPal under its own privacy policy — we never see them. The GCash option only displays a QR code image, which you may save to your gallery. We receive no payment details through the app.
Google Play
If you installed SoloMon from Google Play, Google collects its own data about the install under its own privacy policy. That is outside our control.
7. Why we are allowed to collect this
Under the Data Privacy Act, we rely on our legitimate interests in maintaining and supporting the app — knowing which app versions and phone models are in use so we can fix bugs, keep Bluetooth compatibility working, and deliver updates. The data involved is minimal, is not used to build a profile of you, and is not used to make any decision that affects you.
8. How long we keep it
Installation records are kept for as long as we support the app, because they are what tells us which versions and devices are still in the field. They are not automatically deleted on a schedule. You can ask us to delete your record at any time — see section 9.
9. Your rights
Under Republic Act No. 10173 you have the right to be informed, to access your data, to have it corrected, to object to its processing, to have it erased or blocked, to data portability, and to be indemnified for damages arising from misuse of your data.
To exercise any of these, email catorsi.albert14@gmail.com. Because the installation record is anonymous by design, we hold nothing that identifies you, so we may need your installation ID to locate the right record — write to us and we will walk you through finding it. You can also stop all collection at any time simply by uninstalling the app.
If you believe your rights have been violated, you may lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission of the Philippines.
10. Security
Data sent to our server travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. Records are stored in Google Cloud Firestore with access restricted to us. No system is perfectly secure, but the amount of data we hold is deliberately small — there is no account, password, payment detail, or personal identifier in it to lose.
11. Children
SoloMon is a tool for working with battery hardware and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
If we add features that change what we collect — for example optional cloud monitoring or user accounts — we will update this policy and change the effective date above before those features ship. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. This policy describes version 1.0.2 (build 3); if you are running a later version, check for a newer policy here.
